Legislators know little about ethics

-

Re: May 28 article, “Major differences of opinion threaten ethics bill in Legislature.”

Legislators should not be the ones to develop an ethics bill. Most of them have forgotten the meaning of the term “ethics” — and they should not be the ones entrusted with oversight.

We need an independent committee to do this, not campaign contributors, lobbyists or those seeking favors. A real independent oversight committee. PETER STERN, DRIFTWOOD
