Photo auction to benefit Latinitas

Tickets are on sale for Fotos de mi Alma Photography Auction No. 8, a fundraiser benefiting the nonprofit Latinitas.

The photography auction and exhibit will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 11 at the IBC Bank Community Suite, 500 W. Fifth St.

Special guests will be photographer Diego Huerta and writer/director/producer Carmen Marron.

Admission is $55, and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Latinitas provides after-school programs, teen internships, camps and other initiatives to teach youths about media and technology.

The Austin Public Library, the city of Austin’s Digital Inclusion Program and Google Fiber invite families to participate in Made with Code: A Digital Inclusion and Google Fiber Event.

The Google initiative is specifically designed for beginners and will give families an opportunity to try coding projects in a visual and creative ways, including making animated figures and mixing music.

Made With Code will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Branch, 211 E. William Cannon Drive.

The program is free to participate and open to the public.

The city of Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Kidfish Foundation to present the annual outdoor fishing opportunity for children age 16 and younger.

This year the free event will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 6 on the south shore of Lake Pflugerville, 18216 Weiss Lane.

The lake will be stocked with fish and prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners who catch the longest fish according to age group: 6 and younger, 7 to 11 and 12 to 16. Winners qualify to participate in the state’s Kidfish Classic.

While advance registration is not required, registration forms are available at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, at the Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., and at City Hall, 100 E. Main St.

The form is also online at pflugervilletx.gov/ kidfish. Participants can bring the completed form with them or register the morning of the event.
