Photo auction to benefit Latinitas

Tickets are on sale for Fotos de mi Alma Photograph­y Auction No. 8, a fundraiser benefiting the nonprofit Latinitas.

The photograph­y auction and exhibit will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 11 at the IBC Bank Community Suite, 500 W. Fifth St.

Special guests will be photograph­er Diego Huerta and writer/director/producer Carmen Marron.

Admission is $55, and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Latinitas provides after-school programs, teen internship­s, camps and other initiative­s to teach youths about media and technology.

The Austin Public Library, the city of Austin’s Digital Inclusion Program and Google Fiber invite families to participat­e in Made with Code: A Digital Inclusion and Google Fiber Event.

The Google initiative is specifical­ly designed for beginners and will give families an opportunit­y to try coding projects in a visual and creative ways, including making animated figures and mixing music.

Made With Code will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Branch, 211 E. William Cannon Drive.

The program is free to participat­e and open to the public.

The city of Pflugervil­le Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Kidfish Foundation to present the annual outdoor fishing opportunit­y for children age 16 and younger.

This year the free event will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 6 on the south shore of Lake Pflugervil­le, 18216 Weiss Lane.

The lake will be stocked with fish and prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners who catch the longest fish according to age group: 6 and younger, 7 to 11 and 12 to 16. Winners qualify to participat­e in the state’s Kidfish Classic.

While advance registrati­on is not required, registrati­on forms are available at the Pflugervil­le Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, at the Pflugervil­le Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., and at City Hall, 100 E. Main St.

The form is also online at pflugervil­letx.gov/ kidfish. Participan­ts can bring the completed form with them or register the morning of the event.
