Library to kick off summer events

The Buda Public Library will launch its summer programs with a kickoff party Thursday.

The celebratio­n will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Buda City Park, 204 San Antonio Road, and will include craft booths, face painting, balloon crafts, train rides and more.

Attendees can also pick up a free summer reading club T-shirt while they last.

The Summer at the Library program offers activities for children and teens. This year’s theme is Every Hero Has a Story. In addition to weekly storytimes for toddlers and preschool children, there will be weekly programs for children in kindergart­en through high school, and summer reading clubs.

The Dripping Springs school district board has approved two new principals.

Kellie Raymond was named the principal at Dripping Springs Elementary and Tom Payne the principal at Rooster Springs Elementary.

Raymond has been the assistant principal at Walnut Springs Elementary for six years. Payne has been an assistant principal at Dripping Springs High School for the past four years.
