Austin-area gas prices dip 1 cent this week

After rising steadily for the past six weeks, Austin-area gas prices took a pause this week.

Austin’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline dipped 1 cent to $2.48 this week, according to auto club AAA Texas. Local average prices had risen a combined 32 cents per gallon the previous five weeks, according to AAA data.

The current average local price of $2.48 per gallon is 94 cents lower than the same week last year, when the average price was $3.42, according to AAA.

For Texas as a whole, the average price per gallon dropped 1 cent this week to $2.51. The national average price rose 1 cent to $2.74, AAA said.
