LCRA: Lake drought not over yet

-

Although Lake Travis as of 6 p.m. Thursday was 68 percent full — or about 659 feet above mean sea level — and rising, the Lower Colorado River Authority remains cautious about declaring the end of drought conditions for the Highland Lakes.

“We will breathe a sigh of relief when the lakes are full, accompanied by a sustained period of rainfall,” the LCRA said in a statement Thursday.

Lake Buchanan has been rising as well, albeit not as dramatically as Travis, to about 991.5 feet above mean sea level, or to 42 percent full. Combined, lakes Buchanan and Travis, which supply water to Central Texas, are 57 percent full.
