Small plane lands on highway; pilot OK

A small plane made an emergency landing on Texas 71 Thursday afternoon, Texas Department of Public Safety said.

The plane landed on Texas 71 near the intersecti­on with U.S. 281 around 1:50 p.m. and caught fire after touching ground, DPS said. The pilot, who was the only passenger, was transporte­d to University Medical Center Brackenrid­ge with minor injuries, DPS said.

The reasons for the emergency landing remain unclear. Federal Aviation Administra­tion investigat­ors were called to the scene, DPS said.

Texas 71 was shut down for several hours after the incident.
