Although Austin police say they do not expect gang retaliation from the deadly biker shooting in Waco to spill over into this weekend’s Republic of Texas Biker Rally in Austin, they are beefing up security as a precaution. Efforts include mobilizing undercover cops, gang unit officers and rooftop spotters.

Alain Arduain: You know it’s really funny, all of these people defending bikers, saying, “Oh, it’s the police’s fault.” Hmmmm, interesting. Wonder what they said during all the recent events such as the McKinney incident, Baltimore, etc.

Tom Brown: Don’t recall there ever being a bad incident at any of the ROT Rallies in Austin, which shows what legitimate bikers can do. Keep out the gang elements and let everyone else enjoy their favorite hobby.

Troy Wayne Rios: Doesn’t that sound like a bad idea? Police “pre- pared” for Waco too. Nine civilians were murdered.

Doc-Bryan Holliday: Police need to do what they always do with ROT, no need to go crazy over what happened in Waco since the ROT is one of the calmer events in Austin.

Donna Young: Bad decision. This could end up with dire consequences.

Scot Fahey: ROT has not been a major problem. Less than SXSW, and weather (rain) is part of that. ROT are not the bad guys. There will be traffic, there might be weather; just be calm and rumble on.
