Hossler takes Nike Invitation

UT golfer shoots 2nd straight career best to win by six.

Beau Hossler shot a career-low 64 Tuesday to take the top spot at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitation­al in Portland, Ore. The Longhorns tied for fourth place as a team, shooting 26-under-par 834.

Hossler’s final round was the second time he’s shot a career low in two days. He shot a 65 in Monday’s second round. His total of 18-under 197 was six shots better than second place.

Gavin Hall finished in a tie for 19th at 5 under par, while Doug Ghim tied for 31st at 2 under. Scottie Scheffler was even to tie for 39th. Kalena Preus tied for 58th at 6 over par.

Wake Forest won the team title, shooting 823 (37 under par).

Women’s tennis: Breanna Addison defeated Paige Hourigan of Georgia Tech 6-3, 6-2 Tuesday to advance to the second round of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championsh­ips in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The lone entry for the Longhorns was scheduled to take on Valeria Salazar Garza of Syracuse late Tuesday.

Men’s tennis: Longhorns George Goldhoff and John Mee were eliminated from the main draw of the ITA All-American Championsh­ips in Tulsa, Okla., on Tuesday.

Goldhoff fell to Shane Monroe of BYU 6-1, 6-3, and Virginia’s Luca Corinteli defeated Mee 6-1, 6-2.

On Monday, Goldhoff defeated Enzo Sommer of Washington 6-4, 6-4, and Mee bested Mariano Porter of Central Florida 7-5, 6-2 to advance.

Women’s golf: The Texas women finished tied for fifth place at the Jim West Challenge in Boerne on Monday.

Haley Mills led the Longhorns, shooting 69 to tie for fifth place, jumping 10 spots from the previous day. Sophia Schubert shot a 69 to tie for 11th.

Julia Beck finished 5 over to tie for 23rd, while Maddie Luitwieler tied for 30th, shooting 7 over. Tezira Abe rounded out the team in 60th.

Kent State took the team win at 12 under par. Gabby Barker won medalist honors, shooting 5 under for Texas Tech.
