Council seeks to replace resigning member
Taylor Holcomb leaves Place 2 seat as he moves his family to Houston.
Taylor Holcomb announced his resignation from the West Lake Hills City Council last week, stating in a letter that he was pursuing job opportunities in Houston.
“It is with a heavy heart that I offer my resignation from the City Council,” Holcomb’s letter reads. “Erin, Jimmy and I officially relocated on Sept. 26, and I started as in-house counsel with Targa resources on Sept. 28. I will miss serving with my friends on council. We have accomplished a lot in my three-plus years, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s to come from afar.”
Holcomb occupied Place 2 on the council.
Mayor Dave Claunch released a statement Sunday saying the City Council plans to address Holcomb’s replacement during the Oct. 14 council meeting. Claunch said he anticipates the council will appoint a replacement at the Oct. 28 meeting to fill out Holcomb’s remaining term, which ends May 2016.
“Taylor has been an invaluable member of the council, sharing his legal and personal wisdom on many occasions,” Claunch said.
Residents interested in applying for the council seat can download a volunteer information and application form from the city’s website at www.westlakehills.org.
“I learned a lot about perseverance,” Holcomb said of his time on the City Council. “I gained friends — we didn’t always agree on everything, but everyone was civil and I think that’s how a local government should be.”
