Faces off the field

Macy Harris, senior outside hitter, Cedar Ridge

- — RICK CANTU

What’s your favorite volleyball memory? It would have to be warming up before games. Whether it’s playing follow the leader or screaming our favorite chants, it’s always so funny to watch everyone get excited and get game-ready. Outside of volleyball, what do you like most about your school? I love how pretty Cedar Ridge is. It’s such a clean school, and all the windows make it really bright. If you had the choice of being all-state in volleyball or valedictorian of your class, which would you pick? I would have to say valedictorian because they are intelligent and worked very hard to earn that title. All-State in volleyball would be amazing, too, but I feel like being valedictorian would be more beneficial in the long run. If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, whom would you

invite? Beyonce, Ellen Degeneres, John F. Kennedy and Steve Jobs.

Why Ellen? Because she is hilarious and I feel we would have good conversations about her success, life and have a lot of good laughs. Which of your high school courses will benefit you the most after you graduate? I am taking AP psychology. I feel it will benefit me most in life because it teaches about how the human brain works, why we do the things we do and about different mental illnesses people have. It is very interesting and relates to the real world. Has volleyball taught you lessons you apply off the court? Volleyball has really taught me how to manage my time and be responsible. Between going to practice and balancing school work, you have to allow time for both.

What are your college plans? I don’t know where I am going to college. I hope volleyball will be apart of it, though. Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know. I have a twin brother (Tanner), but we didn’t start going to the same school until sixth grade. What do you consider to be the world’s greatest invention? Cars, because without them the world would be so different. We use them every day to get us to school, work and practice, so I think they are pretty important.
