ODDS AND ENDS

Soccer: Jerome Champagne, a French former diplomat who served Sepp Blatter for 11 years before being forced out of FIFA in 2010 in a power struggle that pitted the now-suspended president against rivals including Michel Platini, is the newest presidential contender, he told the AP Friday.

Skiing: Lindsey Vonn will skip today’s first race of the Alpine skiing season because she doesn’t feel confident about the icy conditions on the race hill in Soelden, Austria, 10 weeks after fracturing an ankle bone.
