Four questions facing Texas

- — RYAN AUTULLO

1. Which team will have the better start?

The Longhorns’ first quarters have mostly foretold their outcomes through six games; they outscored Rice and Oklahoma by a combined 35-0, and managed just 13 points in the four losses. In three conference games, K-State has surrendered 35 first-quarter points.

2. Will Vance Bedford continue to bring defensive pressure?

It’s a safe bet he will, after Texas sacked OU’s Baker Mayfield six times two weeks ago. Bedford said he sent pressure on 18 of the defense’s first 20 snaps. The more comfortable Bedford gets with freshman cornerbacks Holton Hill, Davante Davis and John Bonney, the more willing he’ll be to take chances.

3. Will D’Onta Foreman run for 100 yards for the third game in a row?

He’d be the first Longhorn to do so since Malcolm Brown hit the century mark in the final three games of the 2013 season. Foreman needed minimal touches for his first two 100-yard efforts, carrying 18 times for 112 yards against TCU and nine times for 117 yards against OU. Despite growing evidence that Foreman is the better option, Johnathan Gray continues to start and get the bulk of carries.

4. Will weather impact the game and/or attendance?

Thunderstorms are expected throughout the day. A slippery track could cripple the passing attacks, which both rank below 100th nationally. Though K-State’s secondary is suspect, conditions won’t be ideal for Texas’ Jerrod Heard to come out of a slump (two games in a row without 100 yards passing). As of Wednesday, there were 14,000 unsold tickets.
