Hoiberg moved on to the Chicago Bulls. Naz Mitrou-Long added 13 for Iowa State, which held Colorado to just 36.5 percent shooting. George King came off the bench to hit four of his eight 3-point attempts and finished with 14 points.

(At) Mississipp­i 90, Northweste­rn State 76: Stefan Moody scored a career-high 29, Sebastian Saiz added 16 points and a career-best 14 rebounds, and the Rebels (1-0) never trailed against the Demons (0-1). Jalen West had 25 points and Zeke Woodley added 22 for Northweste­rn State.

UCF’s 7-foot-6 freshman cleared by NCAA: The University of Central Florida announced that the NCAA on Friday cleared center Tacko Fall, a native of Senegal, to play this season. The Knights open their season tonight at Davidson. Fall’s eligibilit­y was in doubt after the NCAA stopped him from participat­ing in practices while it reviewed his academic record. Fall attended high school in Tavares, Fla., the past two years.
