Mercedes-Benz delivers yet another E-class delight

- By Noah Bradon

Starting at $53,100, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 Sedan combines performance and handling with classic machinery and class.

Equipped with a 3.5-liter Direct Injection V6 engine, the E350 achieves impressive performance, such as 302 horsepower at 6,500 revolutions per minute, while minimizing the fuel consumption and emissions. The result is 20 miles to the gallon in city driving and 29 miles to the gallon on highways. While 6.5 seconds is not much time, it is enough for the E350 to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour, helping drivers get from Point A to Point B faster. Rear-wheel drive propels the E350 forward and 7-speed automatic transmission seamlessly accelerates in any driving condition. Though fitted with automatic transmission, shift paddles allow the driver to experience the interaction of a manual system.

“In addition to fuel pumps regulated for more efficient operation, engines in every E-Class model call on their alternators and electric power steering pumps only as needed which mean they sip less gasoline whenever they’re not fueling your exuberance,” according to mbusa.com.

A torque of 273 pounds per foot at 3,500-5,250 revolutions per minute give the driver of the 2016 E350 the ability to handle even the most difficult roads. The Agility Control Suspension equips this vehicle for all surprises that come with driving by reading the road and the driver’s handling of the car. Agility Control automatically adjusts the shock absorbers and creates a more rigid vehicle, protecting it from extreme jostling.

The E350 is equipped with a number of features to enhance control in difficult conditions. The Extreme Stability Program is a revolutionary system from Mercedes-Benz, which detects the driver’s actions and the vehicle’s movement, helps the car maintain its direction and stability when it matters most, even deciding which wheel to brake in order to return control to the driver.

Adaptive braking technology utilizes a number of features, such as the Predictive Brake Priming, which makes a faster response possible, while the Automatic Brake Drying keeps the brakes dry, enhancing the braking ability and reducing water on the discs. Hill Start Assist is irreplaceable, especially when on an intense incline.

The exterior of the E350 has been designed to evoke a modern and sophisticated feel. It accomplishes this through features such as LED lighting and 17-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels, which come standard on all E-series from Mercedes-Benz. Designed to bring the beauty of the outdoors to the driver, the E350 has an advanced sunroof.

“At the touch of a button, the tinted glass sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the sky,” according to www.mbusa.com.

Inside the 2016 E350, there are ample features designed to optimize the driver’s and passenger’s experience. Seating for the driver and front passenger comes with 14 different power adjustment settings, as well as a memory setting and power lumbar support, making personalization easy. MB-Tex upholstery gives the interior of the E350 a leather-like quality, while being incredibly easy to clean. The hands-free Bluetooth capabilities make driving and making calls simple, allowing the driver to access the phonebook through verbal controls.

Safety is key to the mission of Mercedes-Benz. Because of this, the E350 has features such as the Attention Assist, which continually monitors the driver’s habits and warns the driver if there is a dangerous situation. Nine airbags delivers 11-way protection throughout the vehicle, making it resilient even in the face of an accident.

Fitted with features to protect, impress and please, the 2016 E350 from Mercedes-Benz finds the balance between comfort, luxury and practicality.
