Commentary on suicide a valuable contribution

Re: Aug. 18 commentary, “Herman: A hero’s funeral for a suicidal cop?” and Aug. 21 commentary, “Officer’s death shines important a light on mental health.”

Just last week I had reached out to Ken Herman with disappointment over his commentary. Thank you so much for the commentary that published in the Sunday paper. It was the perfect explanation and follow-up to the horrible reality that we as a nation have been facing regarding suicide, especially for those on the front lines. Toni Inglis and Reid Minot wrote a very thorough and thoughtful piece of commentary. Our world is filled with so much suffering. It is so valuable when the media decides to help make people understand some of the issues we are struggling with and instead of just adding more drama.
