Jersey thief suspect a ‘fan’ at Super Bowl
The Mexican media executive suspected of stealing Tom Brady’s jersey went to the Super Bowl as a working journalist but spent the week collecting selfies and autographs from football greats and boasting to colleagues he was there as a fan.
Martin Mauricio Ortega, former director of the tabloid La Prensa, was the subject of a search warrant that turned up the missing jersey and also a helmet that might have belonged to Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who was MVP of Super Bowl 50 .
■ Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky drew a larger than usual crowd to the University of North Carolina’s pro workouts. Tar Heels spokesman Kevin Best said the pro day attracted 75 NFL officials representing all 32 teams.
■ Three Minnesota football players were cleared of sexual harassment allegations in the final round of appeals at the school and will be allowed to return to spring practice, while two more had their suspensions in connection with allegations of a sexual assault upheld.
