The New York Yankees announced Monday that catcher Gary Sanchez is expected to miss four weeks with a biceps strain.

The Yankees put Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list Sunday, a day after he strained his right biceps during his follow-through on a swing at Baltimore.

Sanchez, 24, was hitting .150 with a homer and two RBIs this season. Sanchez hit 20 homers in only 53 games last season after being called up in August.

The Yankees called up Kyle Higashioka to fill Sanchez’s roster spot.

■ Left-hander Jordan Montgomery, 24, earned the fifth starter’s job in the Yankees’ rotation and is scheduled to make his major league debut Wednesday night against the Rays.

Red Sox: Center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. was put on the disabled list with a sprained ligament in his right knee.

Nationals: Shortstop Trea Turner was placed on the 10-day disabled list. Turner strained his right hamstring running the bases during the first inning Saturday in Philadelphia. The Nationals recalled Michael Taylor from Triple-A Syracuse.

Giants: Catcher Buster Posey left Monday’s game in the first inning after he was struck on the helmet by a 94 mph fastball from Arizona right-hander Taijuan Walker. Posey remained down for several moments as Giants manager Bruce Bochy and trainer Dave Groeschner rushed onto the field. Posey sat up and walked off with Groeschner. There was no sign of blood but it’s expected that Posey would be put through the concussion protocol. “He’s doing good, he’s doing fine,” Bochy said after the 4-1 win. Bochy added that Posey is likely to sit out tonight’s game.

Cardinals: Right-hander Trevor Rosenthal (right lat strain) was activated from the 10-day DL. Right-hander Sam Tuivailala was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.

Royals: The team left late pitcher Yordano Ventura’s locker empty except for a framed jersey, and memorials to him were just about everywhere inside Kauffman Stadium during Monday’s home opener. His mother, Marisol Hernandez, threw out the ceremonial first pitch after a saxophonist standing on the mound played a rendition of “Amazing Grace.” Ventura was killed in an offseason car crash in the Dominican Republic.

Phillies: Pete Rose will be inducted into the team’s Wall of Fame before the Aug. 12 game against the Mets. Rose, the all-time hits leader who was banned from baseball in 1989, made four All-Star appearances and helped the Phillies to one of their two world championships during his five seasons in Philadelphia from 1979-83. Rose was selected through fan voting and is the 39th inductee into the club’s Wall of Fame.

Braves: Former outfielder Otis Nixon, who had been missing since Saturday from his Georgia home, “has been located and is safe,” police in Woodstock, Ga., said in a Facebook post Monday.
