Texas State’s softball team scored five runs in the seventh inning Wednesday to rally from a 4-0 deficit and defeat McNeese State 5-4.

McNeese scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead. Texas State (32-10, 12-5 Sun Belt) rallied late, winning on Corrina Liscano’s walk-off double that scored Taylor Webb and Jaclyn Molenaar.

“It could have gone really south for us in a hurry after that big inning we gave them,” Bobcats coach Ricci Woodard said. “I just felt like we continued to battle. We got the bases loaded, didn’t capitalize, and we still kept battling. I just felt we did a real good job of battling through the adversity of that ballgame.”

The Bobcats are on the road this weekend to play a three-game series against Georgia Southern (21-19, 11-7).

Football team has losses, gains: The Bobcats now have zero commitments for the 2018 class after losing their remaining two pledges this week.

Waxahachie offensive tackle Jack York decommitted Sunday night, and San Marcos offensive guard Alex Costilla withdrew his pledge Thursday. Neither has committed to another school.

York visited UCLA last Saturday and is set to visit Baylor this weekend. He also received an offer from New Mexico State this week. Costilla still has just the Bobcats’ offer.

Texas State did receive a commitment from Cerritos College tight end Elijah Rogers. He will be eligible to play this fall once he can sign his letter of intent at the end of the semester.

“I felt at home,” Rogers said. “Players were really honest and up front with me, and the coaching staff showed me a lot of love. I also have a chance to come in and contribute immediately.”

Rogers had offers from West Virginia, Georgia State, Eastern Michigan, Sacramento State and Liberty. He will have two years of eligibility.

Oklahoma State defensive end Caleb Hall-Abbott announced he will transfer to Texas State and play as a walk-on.

Baseball team falls to Longhorns: In their final matchup this season with Texas, the Bobcats lost 2-0 on Tuesday, despite loading the bases with no outs twice.

An RBI single by Kody Clemens in the third inning drove in Zane Gurwitz with the first run. Kacy Clemens then scored on Ryan Reynolds’ double to put Texas up 2-0 in the sixth.

The Longhorns (25-15) took the season series 2-1 over the Bobcats (22-16).

The Sun Belt suspended Bobcats coach Ty Harrington for the game after his third ejection of the season against Louisiana-Monroe. He was also ejected Feb. 18 against Purdue and April 4 against Prairie View A&M. Assistant Jeremy Fikac coached against the Bobcats against UT.
