LUXURY REVIEW

2017 Range Rover Sport.

- By Olivia Olsen

The 2017 Range Rover Sport is a dramatic SUV built with driver in mind. With exceptional technology, ambitious performance, bold new design and versatility to excite, the Range Rover Sport is a truly impressive vehicle that you’ll be begging to take on and off the road.

The heart of the Range Rover Sport’s incredible drive is its unwaveringly perfect engine that enables a performance you’ll be dying to feel in action. A choice between a 3.0-liter Si6 gasoline automatic and 3.0-liter Td6 diesel automatic engines will ensure that you’ll get the drive you desire.

Both engines are six cylinder and offer eight-speed automatic transmissions and four-wheel drive, but veer when it comes to power and torque. The Si6 has 340 horsepower and 332 pounds of torque whereas the Td6 gives drivers slightly less power but more torque at 254 horsepower and 443 pounds of torque. However, both engines cap out at a maximum speed of 130 miles per hour. The engines also differ in fuel economy, with the Si6 giving drivers 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, compared to 22 and 28 for the Td6.

Safety features on the Range Rover Sport are supreme, blending technologies together in order to minimize worry and the potential for accidents. A surround system camera allows for assistance in almost every conceivable way. From a 360degree parking assist system to smart cruise control, emergency braking, lane keep assist and advanced towing, there’s virtually nothing the Range Rover Sport can’t help you accomplish.

The Range Rover Sport makes the life of its driver easier through advanced technology to help with the smallest of everyday inconveniences. A powered gesture tailgate goes a step beyond the typical foot tap to open. In order to lift the trunk, all you need to do is move your feet beneath the two sensors beneath the bumper. For easier entry and exit, the automatic access height feature lowers the vehicle 2 inches with the push of the unlock button or by turning off the engine. Getting into a freezing cold or boiling hot vehicle is a thing of the past with the remote park heat feature, which allows for timed turn-ons, so your morning commute can start more pleasantly than ever before.

A heads-up laser display provides data on your windshield rather than below eye level to make maintaining that perfect speed easier than ever. Controlling your life from the Land Rover InControl Touch Pro, a 10-inch touchscreen display that offers phone connect, navigation, weather and more.

The control doesn’t end with the console display: it’s also offered in an app that can lock, unlock and start your car as well as provide information directly to you from your engine. Complete the technology package with rear seat entertainment. An upgrade from the former DVD player from the last decade, these 8 to 10-inch touchscreen monitors come with wireless headphones, remote and an ability to do more than just watch the same movie over and over.

With so many creature comforts, the Range Rover Sport is a car you’ll be happy to drive across any terrain.
