Pick up new art, celebrate the accordion and eat crawfish this weekend

Sunset Valley ArtFest. The festival hosts a variety of Central Texas artisans and their wares, displays of paintings, music, jewelry, crafts, local foods, and much more. Live music from local musicians will be played throughout the day on a main stage and kid’s stage. These acts include the Tejas Brothers, Guy Forsyth Blues Band, Lost and Nameless, and the Bowie High School Steel Drum Band. Mr. Will with Warren Hood and the Biscuit Brothers will play on the popular kid’s stage. The South Austin YMCA will also have their youth dancers on stage in between the musical acts. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Free. Texas Folklife’s Big Squeeze Finals and Concert. Ten finalists, all 21 years or younger, will compete for three grand prizes in three categories at this accordion contest. Each one will perform, with a focus on either Cajun and Zydeco, Czech/German/Polish Polka and Conjunto, in front of an audience and the judges. Following their performanc­es — and while the judges deliberate — a free concert will be held. The afternoon concert will feature conjunto masters Rio Jordan from San Antonio, Houston zydeco powerhouse Ruben Paul Moreno and the ever-popular Cajun sounds of the Gulf Coast Playboys. 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Vox Table’s Two Year Anniversar­y Crawfish Boil. It’s Vox Table’s turn to show you how Cajun is done. In celebratio­n of the restaurant’s birthday, there will be an all-you-can-eat crawfish boil with a flat fee of $30 for as much of the mudbugs as you can eat, as well as sausage, corn, potatoes and homemade cornbread. Vox Table’s bartenders have also whipped up a Spring Shandy to complement the Cajun spices. No reservatio­ns are needed; the event is first-come, first serve. 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. 1100 S.
