Dodgers top Express again

Oklahoma City wins for second straight day vs. Round Rock.

Drew Maggi doubled and singled twice, driving in a run and scoring one as the Oklahoma City Dodgers defeated the Round Rock Express 6-2 on Sunday at Dell Diamond.

Charlie Culberson homered and singled twice for Oklahoma City, which started the scoring in the first inning when Culberson hit a solo home run and Scott Van Slyke scored on a pickoff attempt.

After Oklahoma City added two runs in the second, the Express cut into the deficit in the bottom half of the inning with Brett Nicholas’ one-run double.

The Dodgers tacked on two runs in the sixth when Brett Eibner hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Maggi to secure the victory.

Oklahoma City righthande­r Jair Jurrjens (3-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs on nine hits over six innings. Madison Younginer pitched three scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

Express starter Christian Torres (1-1) took the loss after giving up four runs and five hits over two innings.

Dodgers 5, Express 1, late Saturday: Maggi homered and had two hits as the Dodgers won Saturday. A four-run eighth inning for the Dodgers doomed the Express to a series-opening loss.

Maggi’s solo home run in the sixth provided the first run of the game. The Express tied the game in the seventh when Ronald Guzman’s RBI single scored Josh Wilson.

The Dodgers took the lead for good in the eighth when Maggi scored on a forceout. O’Koyea Dickson added to the lead with an RBI single and Willie Calhoun capped the inning with a two-run home run.

Jeremy Bleich (1-0) got the win with 2⅓ innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Tanner Scheppers (0-1) took the loss.

Wilson doubled and singled for the Express. Wilson and Guzman each had two hits in the game. Jared Hoying had the only other extrabase hit for Round Rock.

Express starter Dillon Gee had his quality start spoiled after allowing one run on three hits through seven innings. He retired the first 13 batters he faced, struck out eight and didn’t allow a walk.
