A Leander family finally got its mobile home Friday evening after family members said a house mover left it partly stuck on a sharp curve for a few days.

Jesse Husemann said his family hired Nick Morphis, the owner of AAA-Austin Home Movers, to pull the three-bedroom mobile home Tuesday. He said Morphis dragged it a mile after it got flat tires until it became partly stuck in a ditch along a curve in the 14600 block of Rock Cliff Drive.

“I’m mad,” said Husemann’s wife, Dawn, her eyes filling with tears as she spoke at her moth- er-in-law’s house Friday. “My boys have been through hell. I have a 3-year-old and a 15-monthold, and they don’t understand what’s going on.”

Morphis has run into trouble hauling homes previously, including in October 2016 when a house became stuck for a few days in the middle of East Live Oak Street in South Austin.

The Husemann’s mobile home remained stranded until Patrick Baker — whose wife contacted Husemann on Facebook after hearing what happened — moved it out of the road Thursday, Dawn Husemann said.

Baker, who works for United Modular Services of Round Rock, did the job for free and finished hauling the home Friday to the property of Dawn Husemann’s mother-in-law on Nameless Road, she said.

“We got a guardian angel,” she said.

Baker couldn’t be reached for comment Friday.

Morphis said Friday that the Husemanns’ home was not built properly for hauling. The home did not have enough axles on it so it got flat tires while he was hauling it, he said. He added that the load then got stuck in the road.

Morphis said he had been working to move the house since it became stuck.

“We had the house jacked up two feet in the air when the client shows up with another mover and had the other mover take over the job,” he said.
