Where to view fireworks across Central Texas,
Downtown Austin, Willie’s picnic, Round Rock Frontier Days among local favorites.
There are plenty of opportunities to celebrate the birth of America with fireworks on Tuesday night across Central Texas. Here are some of the places you can go out to ooh and aah:
DOWNTOWN AUSTIN
41st annual July Fourth Concert and Fireworks: Taking place at Vic Mathias Shores at 700 W. Riverside Drive, the Austin Symphony Orchestra will perform patriotic tunes starting at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will be launched over the downtown skyline at 9:30.
DEL VALLE
Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic: Besides a star-studded lineup of country acts, including Willie himself, the Austin360 Amphitheater will have a starry-night display of fireworks as well. The all-day concert features Sheryl Crow, Kacey Musgraves, Hayes Carll and many others. Tickets prices start at $39.50.
BEE CAVE
Independence Day Celebration: The Hill Country Galleria is transforming its Central Plaza into a patriotic playground for families, with face painting and other activities for the kids, live music by the Watters and Vallejo, and an all-day sidewalk sale. Live music starts at 6:30 p.m.; fireworks at 9.
BUDA
Red, White & Buda: The all-day event will kick off from 9 to 10 a.m. with a Patriotic Parade on Main Street, followed by live entertainment and food options at Buda City Park. Fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m. at the park.
CEDAR PARK
4th of July Parade & Celebration: A parade from the H-E-B Center to the Recreation Center at 10 a.m. and a festival from 4 to 10 p.m. at Elizabeth Milburn Park. The afternoon celebration will have live music, bingo, a washer tournament, free watermelon, and carnival games and rides. Fireworks will close out the night.
GEORGETOWN
4th of July Celebration: Sertoma’s 30th annual celebration takes place at San Gabriel Park from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Before the fireworks, there will be a parade, arts and craft booths, food vendors, kiddie rides, bounce houses, games and a petting zoo for the kids. Musical entertainment takes place beginning at noon at the Gazebo.
KYLE
Independence Day Celebration: The Plum Creek Golf Course will be the scene of the fireworks show, but there will be live music beginning at 6 p.m. in the clubhouse. Hot dogs, cold drinks and other snacks will be sold under a large tent.
LEANDER
Liberty Fest: Along with the Josh Abbott Band, there will be food and arts-and-crafts vendors leading up to the fireworks show starting at 9 p.m. from the Capital Metro Leander Station. The festival along Hero Way near the 183-A toll road begins at 4:30 p.m.
PFLUGERVILLE
Pfirecracker Pfestival: The evening event will take place at the Pfield, with live music before and after the fireworks. Food trucks will start serving at 5 p.m., the concerts start at 6 p.m., and the fireworks will light the sky around 9:15 p.m.
ROUND ROCK
Frontier Days Celebration: Before the fireworks, Old Settlers Park will host carnival rides, children’s games, free watermelon, pig and rubber duck races and the Sam Bass Shootout. Following the fireworks, there will be a screening of “The Lego Batman Movie.”
SAN MARCOS
SummerFest: Beginning at 6 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park, expect live music, followed by a parade complete with a children’s costume contest and fireworks blasting off at 9:30 p.m. There will be food and vendors.
TAYLOR
Independence Day Festival: The festival starts at 4 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at dusk at Murphy Park.
WELLS BRANCH
FourthFest: Expect plenty of kidfriendly fun with a short parade at 10 a.m. and finishing with fireworks at 9 p.m. In between, there will be a variety of activities, entertainment and food at Katherine Fleischer Park. The park’s pool will be free and open to the public.
