Texans for Greg Abbott said that nearly 45 percent of donations were from first-time donors; more than 91 percent of all donations were for less than $200; and 92 percent of all donors were from Texas.
“I am humbled and grateful for the support I have received from Texans across this great state,” Abbott, who announced for re-election on Friday, said in a statement. “My campaign is building the largest grassroots army ever assembled in the Lone Star State, with the goal of keeping Texas the brightest beacon of freedom in the country. In the upcoming election, our campaign will be relentless in our efforts to identify and turn out conservatives to keep Texas red.”
In the comparable period after the regular legislative session in 2017, Abbott raised $8.3 million.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick raised close to $4 million in the same 12-day period in June following the end of the legislative session and veto period — during which officeholders can’t raise money — bringing his campaign account to nearly $17 million

Since June 2015, according to his campaign, Abbott has raised $43.1 million.
Reports for the 12-day period ending June 30 were due with the Texas Ethics Commission on Monday and will be available online Tuesday.
Abbott drew his first challenger on Friday. Dallas businessman Jeffrey Payne filed paperwork with the Texas Ethics Commission to be a Democratic candidate for governor, though the party hasn’t promoted him. He told KTVT-TV in Dallas that he was planning to loan his campaign $2.5 million.
