Home runs too much for Express

Round Rock starter Wagner falls to 1-9 after loss to Fresno.

Teoscar Hernandez hit a two-run home run and Preston Tucker added a two-run homer and had two hits as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the Round Rock Express 11-8 Sunday in a Pacific Coast League game at Fresno, Calif.

The home run by Hernan- dez capped a three-run fifth inning and gave the Grizzlies a 5-3 lead. Jon Kemmer had hit a solo home run earlier in the inning.

The Grizzlies (59-42) added four runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the sixth, Tucker hit his tworun blast, and Reid Brignac added a solo homer in the seventh.

Third baseman Will Mid- dlebrooks homered and sin- gled, scoring a pair of runs and driving home a couple for the Express. Middle- brooks’ homer in the fourth inning was his third in a span of four at-bats.

Round Rock outfielder Travis Snider homered and singled, driving in two runs.

Fresno starter Rogelio Armenteros (4-0) got the win despite allowing four runs and six hits over 5⅔ innings.

Dayan Diaz got A.J. Jimenez to ground out with runners on first and third to end the game for his second save of the season.

Express starter Tyler Wagner (1-9) took the loss after allowing five runs and nine hits over five innings.

Round Rock (45-56) was aiming to avoid being swept in the series as the teams played the finale Monday night. The Express then will head to Sacramento, Calif., for a series against the River Cats.
