Gore reaches rushing milestone on TD
Beckham penalized for odd celebration after Giants score.
Indianapolis running back Frank Gore became the ninth player in NFL history to record 3,000 rushing attempts, and he made his particularly memorable. The milestone came when Gore, 34 and in his 13th season, scored on a 4-yard run in the Colts’ 31-28 win over the Browns. He finished with 25 carries for 57 yards and 3,011 career rushes.
Giants: Odell Beckham Jr. made the team’s first touchdown of the season memora- ble. After his reception cut the Eagles’ lead to 14-7 in a wild fourth quarter, Beckham drew an unsportsmanlike penalty for his celebration. Down on all fours, he took a few steps and then lifted his right leg in the air, imitating a dog urinating.
Broncos: Linebacker Von Miller’s attempt to pull a fast one on Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor backfired.
Offering his hand as if to help up Taylor, Miller then pulled it away at the last second right in front of an official. He was flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct to extend Buffalo’s final scoring drive.
“I killed the game today with that penalty,” Miller said.
Seahawks: Lin e backer Dewey McDonald suffered a knee injury on the opening kickoff against the Titans and did not return.
Buccaneers: An injury-battered defense absorbed more damage in the loss to the Vikings. Backup defensive end Noah Spence was in and out with a shoulder injury.
Standout defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, who was limited last week in practice by an ankle problem, limped off twice in the second half before returning from each absence.
Then linebacker Lavonte David was lost in potentially the biggest blow. He had the back of his leg rolled on inadvertently by a Vikings player and left the field on a cart.
Dolphins: Safety Nate Allen (hamstring) exited in the third quarter and did not return.
Panthers: Lost wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (knee) in the first quarter. His leg got bent back awkwardly when he was dragged down from behind.
Ravens: Defensive Brent Urban (foot) was lost in the first quarter against the Jaguars.
Jets: Running back Matt Forte will have X-rays on an injured toe that caused him to sit out most of the second half against the Dolphins.
Falcons: Matt Ryan hadn’t thrown an interception in nine games, including three games during the last postseason, before getting picked off three times by the Lions.
