WR sees good fit with Bobcats

Stephenville receiver Blake Aragon became Texas State’s 18th pledge for the 2018 recruiting class when he committed to the Bobcats on Wednesday night.

“I just felt like it was a good fit for me and my family, and that they are the best team to utilize me as a player,” Aragon said. “When I was there, it really felt like a family atmosphere. They made it feel like home.”

Aragon, a 6-foot-4, 185pound two-star recruit, per 247Sports’ composite rankings, had garnered interest from Houston, Baylor and SMU but held only one FBS offer, from the Bobcats; he had two offers in all, the other from Abilene Christian.

He said the Bobcats plan to play him at receiver his first year, then move him to tight end.

“So I’ll have to get my hand in the dirt a little bit,” he said.

Playing multiple positions is nothing new for Argon. Stephenville, a Class 4A program, has taken full advantage of his versatility.

“In our offense, I’m all over the place,” he said.

“I play tight end, slot sometimes and wideout. We throw the ball a lot, so it’s a really explosive offense. We’re under center maybe three times a game.”

Aragon is the second receiver who has pledged to the Bobcats, along with TJ Graham out of Mansfield Lake Ridge. Texas State also has one tight end who has committed, Corpus Christi Calallen’s Jackson Lanham.

The rest of the 2018 pledges are five offensive linemen, three defensive linemen, three cornerbacks, two safeties and two outside linebackers.
