The San Antonio Rampage used a five-goal second period to overwhelm the Texas Stars 6-2 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Saturday night.

Dominic Toninato scored two goals and Joe Colborne and Andrei Mironov each notched two points to lead the Rampage (4-1-0-0).

Travis Morin and Curtis McKenzie each scored for the Stars (3-2-0-1), but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with San Antonio.

The Stars briefly held the lead at 1-0 after Morin scored on assists from Denis Gurianov and Gavin Bayreuther. The power-play goal was the only one in the game. The Stars were 1 for 4 and San Antonio was 0 for 2 on the power play.

The Rampage didn’t need an advantage to score, however. San Antonio tallied five straight goals in the middle frame to take a 5-1 lead.

Toninato scored his first of the night to tie the game up. Andrei Mironov scored less than a minute later to give the Rampage the lead 6 minutes, 25 seconds into the second period. Reid Petryk doubled the lead three minutes later.

Just 1:24 after Petryk’s goal, Toninato notched his second score of the night. It was a shorthanded goal that made it 4-1 for San Antonio. Felix Girard scored the last second-period goal for the Rampage 1:05 later.

Landon Bow was pulled from the net after allowing the five goals. He managed nine saves on 14 shots. Bow’s replacement, Mike McKenna, saved all 12 shots he faced.

Ville Husso got the win for San Antonio, saving 34 of 36 shots.

McKenzie scored his goal late in the second period.

Colborne added an empty-net goal to cap San Antonio’s scoring in the final frame.
