A man who is wanted by Travis County authorities for violating the terms of his pretrial release in connection with a shooting at a University of Texas fraternity party last fall might be hiding out with family in Scotland, according to a European news report.

The Press and Journal published a photo last week of a man at an Aberdeen, Scotland, home they say is Daniel Magee, who police say shot a security guard in September 2016 who had tossed him out of a Sigma Chi party for being unruly.

A reporter with the paper made contact with Magee, who declined to comment on his criminal case, the report states.

Magee, 19, has been missing since early September when Travis County officials filed a warrant for his re-arrest, stating he had repeatedly left his house without permission and had not reported to urinalysis screenings. He also skipped a mandatory court appearance last month on felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His bond is set $100,000.

Magee admitted to the shooting and told police that he had been high on Xanax, according to the arrest affidavit. Court records show he posted $50,000 bond and was released from jail.

The Houston-born Magee spent some of his youth in Scotland. Officials at the Travis County district attorney’s office say they are aware of the The Press and Journal’s report. at
