The Wolfpack ( 21-11) defeated Oregon State (2112) in five sets to advance to the second round, where they will meet the winner of Friday’s late match between the Longhorns and the Stags.

Bree Bailey led North Car- olina State with 22 kills as the Wolfpack won 25-18, 19-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13. Julia Brown had 19, and Melissa Evans added 15. Kylie Pick- rell assisted on 62 points, including the kill by Bailey that sealed the win.

Saturday’s second-round match at Gregory Gym will start at 7 p.m.

Soccer: Texas sophomore forward Cyera Hintzen earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-America second team, the organization announced Thursday.

In all, 41 players will be acknowledged as NCAA Divi- sion I All-Americans at the United Soccer Coaches Convention All-American lun- cheon Jan. 20 in Philadel- phia.

Hintzen joins Kelly Wilson, Kati McBain, Kelly McDon- ald, Kasey Moore and Kelsey Carpenter as the only Long- horns to be voted All-Americans by the organization.

The sophomore helped Texas to a 14-4-3 overall record and an NCAA berth that ended at the Sweet Sixteen. Hintzen scored 10 goals on the year, tied for the lead in the Big 12. Four of her goals came after the 81st minute of games.

Swimming: Joanna Evans improved on a school mark and the Texas men won a pair of relay races Thursday on the second day of the Texas Invitational.

Evans finished the 500- yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 35.05 seconds to take the win and improve on her school record. She set the previous record of 4:36.97 at the Big 12 Championships last season. Evans’ time was good enough for second in the nation, behind Katie Ledecky of Stanford.

Rebecca Millard, Claire Adams, Brooke Hansen and Remedy Rule teamed up to open the event with a win in the 200-freestyle relay. The squad finished the race in 1:28.81.

Madisyn Cox, a former Longhorn, won the 200 individual medley in 1:54.39. Freshman Evie Pfeifer placed sixth with a time of 1:56.82.

On the men’s side, the Longhorns opened with a 200-freestyle relay victory. Tate Jackson, Brett Ringgold, John Shebat and Joseph Schooling won the race in 1:16.13. The time made the NCAA automatic qualifying cut. It was the second-best time in the country this season.

The Longhorns ended the night with another relay victory, this time in the B final of the 400-medley relay. Austin Katz, Casey Melzer, Sam Pomajevich and Jackson won the race in 3:06.11, an NCAA automatic qualifying mark.
