Austin’s Planview buys Tenn. project firm
Austin software maker Planview is expanding its project management offerings with the acquisition of a Tennessee-based firm, the company said Monday.

LeanKit, based in Franklin, Tenn., sells project management and forecasting tools designed to help development and IT teams apply so-called lean management principles to their projects.

Planview was founded in 1989, and in January the company was acquired by Thoma Bravo, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed.
Last year, the company moved into a new 51,000-square-foot headquarters at 12301 Research Blvd. The company said the new space would allow for 50 percent growth in its employee headcount.
Planview currently has about 725 employees worldwide, including 275 in Austin.
LeanKit, which was founded in 2009 and has 70 employees, is Planview’s fourth acquisition.
Last year, Planview bought San Francisco-based Innotas for an undisclosed sum. Innotas develops software for project portfolio management and resource and financial management.
