Travis County deputies say an attempted robbery orchestrated by three teenagers led to a shooting in the Cuernavaca area Saturday afternoon, leaving two men seriously injured.

Deputies detained three suspects accused of being involved in the incident, according to an arrest affidavit.

They identified two of them as Jesus Corrales and David Orion Dewey-Haagensen, both of whom are 17 years old. The third suspect, a 16-year-old, was not named because he’s a minor.

The incident took place in the 1700 block of Lancer Lane, according to the affidavit. Deputies responded just before 5 p.m.

The target of the attempted robbery was shot with a shotgun and had injuries in the face, neck, left shoulder and back, the affidavit says.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, told deputies he was communicating with a friend on Snapchat when the friend asked if he was home, and the victim confirmed he was, the affidavit says. His friend and two masked men later arrived at the victim’s house carrying weapons and demanded that the victim give them everything he had, the document says.

The victim said he grabbed the end of the shotgun, was shot in the face and then was shot a second time in the left shoulder, according to the affidavit. The victim told deputies he let go of the weapon and ran to the back of his house. He was shot a third time in the back while he tried to get away, the affidavit says.

The other three tried to flee, but Corrales and Dewey-Haagensen were tackled and brought back by citizens, according to the affidavit. It is unclear how the 16-yearold was detained.

The victim was taken to South Austin Medical Center with serious injuries, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services officials said Saturday. Dewey-Haagensen was also injured while trying to flee and was taken to the hospital, the affidavit says.

After Corrales was detained, he told deputies the group had planned to rob the victim, whom the 16-yearold said he knew. Corrales said he had a knife, Dewey-Haagensen had the shotgun and the 16-year-old had a BB gun, the affidavit says.

Corrales was in the Travis County Jail on Sunday with bail set at $50,000. Dewey-Haagensen was still in the hospital and there is a warrant for his arrest, the sheriff ’s office said. The 16-yearold boy is being held at Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center.

The shooting was the first of two to which law officers responded in the Austin area Saturday. Officials said a man in his 20s was killed in 1070 block of Mearns Meadow Boulevard. No new details on that incident were available Sunday.
