Now do you believe him? All throughout this sloth-like offseason, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels has maintained his team was unlikely to pull up a chair at the big-spenders table. But Yu Darvish — and the rest of the top pitchers on the market — would go unsigned for yet another week and the question would rise again. What about now Darvish now? The question finally has a definitive answer. The answer is: No. Two baseball sources confirmed a report Saturday that Darvish had agreed to a six-year, $126 million deal with the Chicago Cubs. According to the report by Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, Darvish could earn up to $150 million if he reaches every incentive in the deal, which is unlikely.

The Rangers never pursued Darvish. Oh, they kept in touch with him. But there is a big difference
