Texas’ O’Brien Wasome and Alan Zapalac set school records to highlight the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station on Saturday.

Wasome won the triple jump with a UT record of 55 feet, 2¼ inches. It’s the first triple jump national title in Longhorns history.

Zapalac placed eighth in the weight throw with a school-record 72-8. The fifthyear senior hadn’t been to the NCAA Championships before and made his lone appearance count.

“I don’t know what to do. I’ve never been so happy to finish in eighth place,” Zapalac said. “Four years of work, and it all pays off in the end. It was worth it.”

Texas’ George Patrick placed 14th in the heptathlon with 5,398 points. Patrick’s highest-scoring finish came in the 60-meter hurdles as he took fourth in 8.15 seconds.

For the UT women, Kally Long cleared a height of 13-9¾ in the pole vault for 13th place.

The women’s 1,600 relay team finished eighth in a season-best 3:33.06.

Women’s tennis: Texas started off by taking the doubles point and then added three singles victories to beat Michigan 4-0 Sunday at the Texas Tennis Center.

After UT took two of three doubles matches, Marta Perez-Mur needed only about an hour to beat Mira Ruder-Hook a 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Anna Turati staked the Horns to a 3-0 cushion with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Brienne Minor at second singles. Freshman Bojana Markovic locked up the team win for the Longhorns with her 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alyvia Jones at fourth singles. The remaining matches were suspended.
