Austin alcohol sales jump 7 percent in February

Alcohol sales at Austin bars, restaurants and hotels jumped 7 percent in February, according to an American-Statesman analysis of state data.

Sales across Texas were up 5 percent in February, reaching $546.6 million.
The top-selling venue statewide in February was San Antonio’s AT&T Center, where thirsty patrons downed $3.4 million worth of beer, wine and mixed drinks. The arena, which is home to the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, in February hosted the annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
In Austin, the JW Marriott hotel, 110 E. Second St., ranked No. 1 for the month with total alcohol sales of $1,107,617.
Next up was Chupacabra Cantina, 400 E. Sixth St., with sales of $455,349, followed by the Hilton Austin Hotel, 500 E. Fourth St., coming in at $379,916.
