High octane entertainment on slate for Austin Auto Show
The Austin Auto Show,
held at the Austin Convention Center April 20-22, will host the newest offerings from all the major automakers with more than 200,000 square feet of showroom space. This is one of the premiere shows of its kind in the country, giving attendees a rare opportunity to comparison shop among a wide range of models in a short
period of time. As autom obilesareabig part of the American culture, there will also be events with entertainment and celebrities of both the human and fourwheeled variety.
LeeAnne Locken from “Real Housewives of Dallas” will kick things off at the Wine, Wardrobe & Wheels Happy Hour on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Dillard’s will provide mini-makeovers as models demonstrate spring’s hottest styles. Booker, Alex & Sara from the Mix 94.7 morningshowwilla lso be in attendance, while D J 2DQ, an Austin favorite, spins music. Wine tasting and complimentary food bars will be avail- able (including a Doughnut Sundae station).
For film fans, James Bond’s Aston Martin Vanquish (from “Die Another Day”) will be on display along with one of the seven original 1966 Batmobiles (and Wonder Woman is slated to appear on Saturday and Sunday. A new attraction for the 2018 show is the “Photobus,” a reconditioned 1970 Volkswagen Bus transformed into a photo booth for creating family keepsakes.
For the smallest car enthusiasts, there is also a Kid Zone featuring a bounce house and play area, and balloon artists and face painters will be on-hand as well. More information can be found at the event’s website at www.autoshowaustin.com.
