Joseph homers, drives in two in win

Tommy Joseph homered and drove in two runs as the Round Rock Express defeated the New Orleans Baby Cakes 4-2 on Wednesday.

With the game tied 1-1 in the third, Round Rock took the lead with Joseph singling in a run and another scoring on an error.

The Baby Cakes cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Cristhian Adames scored on an error.

The Express tacked on another run in the ninth when Hanser Alberto singled to score Andy Ibanez.

Round Rock right-hander Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-3) picked up the win after allowing one run on seven hits over five innings.

Opposing starter Adam Conley (1-4) lost after giving up three runs and six hits over eight innings. R.J. Alvarez recorded his fifth save of the season.

Baby Cakes 4, Express 3 (late Tuesday): Jonathan Rodriguez hit a walk-off, tworun single with one out in the ninth inning to lift the Baby Cakes to a one-run victory.

The Express took a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth when former Texas Longhorn Cameron Rupp hit a solo home run.

Rodriguez doubled and singled twice, driving home three runs in the win.

Severino Gonzalez (2-1) got the win in relief while Matt Bush (0-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

Rupp homered and doubled for the Express as he finished 2 for 4.

Willie Calhoun also went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Alberto had the other RBI for Round Rock as he went 1 for 3 with a run. Destin Hood doubled and scored for the Express.
