Han, horror and a dangerous theme park: 35 summer movies to watch

-

It’s summer movie season (even if it’s not quite summer), which means sequels, reboots and a fair number of heroes, among other things.

It is the most bonkers time of the year for film, and in 2018, we’ve got Han Solo going “Solo,” one of the (allegedly) scariest movie of recent memory, a femalecast remake of a beloved remake, an ant and a muchanticipated documentary, the trailer for which makes every single person who views it cry hot, salty tears.

Here are 35 movies hitting the silver screen in the next few months. Release dates are, as always, subject to change. And, as usual, some of the following may be great; some may be terrible. Either way, at least there will be air-conditioning.

Perfect for Mother’s Day! “Deadpool 2.” The Merc with a Mouth is back, and this time, he has a posse. The first “Deadpool” was a witty, hyper-violent, fourthwall-smashing economic miracle, making $363 million domestically against a $58 million budget. Director Tim Miller left “2” in an earlyish stage and was replaced with “John Wick” director David Leitch; “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick co-wrote with star Ryan Reynolds, whose goofy charm helped the first film immeasurably. Look for ’Pool to put together X-Force with new faces Domino (Zazie Beetz from “Atlanta”), Bedlam (Terry Crews) and Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) to fight fan-favorite character Cable (a really muscly Josh Brolin).

“Show Dogs.” Will Arnett is the human detective; Ludacris is the voice of his canine partner. The two go
