Burro’s Breakfast Release
Party at Pinthouse Pizza. The Burnet Road location is celebrating the release of its crisp and easy-to-drink Mexican lager, which features the characteristic corn sweetness in the nose, a light but full body and a tart, dry finish with a balanced bitterness — exactly the sort of beer you’d want to have on Cinco de Mayo (or any other day, for that matter). Pinthouse is also hosting the mariachi band Mariachi Amor from 2 to 4 p.m. Plus, the kitchen has team up with Tacodeli for a tacoinspired pizza. 11 a.m. Saturday. Free. 4729 Burnet Road. pinthousepizza.com/burnet/events. Cinco de Mayo Hot Pepper Eating Contest. Are you prepared to step up to the plate and eat a bunch of hot peppers? The Cesar Chavez Street bar Craftsman is hosting a contest in which participants will have to eat each pepper, from mildest to hottest, and whoever can finish the hottest one first wins. There will also be food and drink specials, including margaritas. 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Free. 2000 E. Cesar Chavez St. facebook.com/ events/773086282884930/.
