Bamba ready to help Magic reverse course

He goes No. 6 overall to a team that has missed playoffs six years in a row.

When Mo Bamba stands up and raises his arms parallel to the ground, he measures 7 feet, 10 inches from his left hand’s fingertips to his right hand’s fingertips. To put that into perspectiv­e, consider this: Bamba’s wingspan exceeds the head-to-toe heights of every player in NBA history, even skyscraper­s Gheorghe Muresan, Manute Bol and Yao Ming.

The Orlando Magic are counting on the former Texas Longhorn’s massive wingspan, quick feet and innate defensive feel to translate into victories.

Seeking to upgrade their rim protection, rebounding and defense, the Magic selected Bamba sixth overall Thursday night in the NBA draft.
