Express collect 4th straight win

Willie Calhoun hit a tworun home run and had two hits as the Round Rock Express beat the Nashville Sounds 7-4 Wednesday at Dell Diamond.

The win makes it four straight for the cellar-dwelling Express. Round Rock also took the three-game series by winning the first two games, a second straight series win for the club.

Nashville (67-61) took the lead in the first when Anthony Garcia hit an RBI double and then scored on a two-run home run by Franklin Barreto.

After Round Rock (59-69) scored four runs in the bottom of the first, the Express extended the lead in the sixth inning when Calhoun hit his home run.

The Express tacked on another run in the eighth when Nick Torres hit an RBI single, driving in Cliff Pennington.

Round Rock starter Adrian Sampson (6-4) picked up the win despite allowing three runs over five innings.

Opposing starter Raul Alcantara (5-5) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after giving up four runs and seven hits over two innings.

Reed Garrett pitched 1 ⅔ scoreless innings for his fourth save of the season.

For the Sounds, Barreto homered and doubled twice, driving home two runs.

With the win, Round Rock improved to 10-5 against Nashville this season.

The series finale was set for Thursday night.
