Lies in place of truth lethal to democracies
I recommend everyone visit an Austrian or German war museum. On belt buckles worn by Nazi troops is the inscription “Gott mit Uns” or “God with us.” Both the Allies and Axis thought God was on their side. Fortunately, it was God’s decision.
Once the war was over, it didn’t take long for the duped — except the bunker-hardened — to realize what happened and who was responsible. Disagreeing on governmental policies is OK. Substituting lies for truth, thereby preventing agreement on facts, is lethal to democracies and rational discussions.
We will soon enough be given incontrovertible evidence to determine for ourselves who was responsible and why. To undo the damage of this disaster will take decades. We should have our own Nuremberg trials to expose and expel the media and politicians who purposely misled us and damaged our democracy.
Cherisse Mischlich-Sebek: Yay! So excited to complain about the cold and wish it were summer again. (Only to then complain about the heat and wish for winter again.) Samantha Jaye Rice: How Texan of you! I’ll be doing the same.
Jimmy Cruz: I love winter weather especially in Texas in our area. It is 110 degrees all summer long.
Esteban Soto: Didn’t they say this last year, and the year before, and the year before that? Sigh. Jennifer J Smith: breath. Not holding my Marie Ortiz Garcia: Farmer’s Almanac is usually on point.
Donna Sebesta: Woohoo! My faves are winter clothes. I’ve got a new coat I didn’t get wear last winter, but I’m gonna Elu Pena: Most likely, I’ll still be wearing shorts. Mary Jo Banahan: I’ll believe it when I see it. Alex Frank: You have something against cactus and vegetable gardens?
Stephanie McCollum Ferguson: I’m moving back to Texas this fall after 25 years up north. So, what would qualify as “stinging cold”? I’ve forgotten. Lisa Richter: South Texas? 60 degrees. John Nettle: So, we will have two days of cold instead of one?
