Running back Keaontay Ingram will likely miss this weekend’s game against USC, Texas coach Tom Herman announced Monday.

A four-star freshman out of Carthage, Ingram was injured in the fourth quarter of UT’s 28-21 win over Tulsa this past weekend. Herman said a MRI showed no damage to the meniscus in Ingram’s knee. Herman said Ingram was diagnosed with a bone bruise and strained MCL but would still be listed as “doubtful” for Saturday’s game at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

Ingram is averaging 6.3 yards per carry and has also caught four footballs this season. He has scored on a 5-yard run against Maryland and a 29-yard jaunt against Tulsa.

Texas, though, has given Ingram 16 carries, and he did not touch the football in the second half of UT’s 34-29 loss to Maryland. Texas offensive coordinator Tim Beck assured reporters last week that Ingram would see more playing time as the season progressed.

USC is allowing 233.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks 112th in the NCAA. This year, UNLV’s Lexington Thomas and Stanford standout Bryce Love both ran for 136 yards and a touchdown against the Trojans. Graduate transfer Tre Watson and sophomore Daniel Young were listed as the top two running backs on UT’s depth chart on Monday.

Additionally, Herman noted on Monday that John Burt (foot), linebacker Ayodele Adeoye (knee) and center Zach Shackelford (foot) will miss the USC game. Herman also updated the media about offensive lineman Patrick Hudson, who was hospitalized last week after suffering a heat-related illness at a UT practice. About Hudson, Herman said: “IV is out, levels are trending back to normal each and every day.”

Kickoff time set for TCU game: Texas and TCU will play at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, the Big 12 announced Monday. The game at Royal-Memorial Stadium will be televised on Fox.

The showdown between Texas and TCU will be the conference opener for both teams. This week, TCU (2-0) is set to meet Ohio State at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium in a marquee matchup. Meanwhile, Texas (1-1) will host USC. UT holds a 62-25-1 lead in the series against the Horned Frogs.

Vince Young to be inducted into Rose Bowl Hall of Fame: Former UT quarterback Vince Young will be forever immortalized among Rose Bowl greats.

The Rose Bowl announced Monday that Young will be inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame. Young will be enshrined on Dec. 31 in a ceremony that will also feature George Halas, Randall McDaniel and Pop Warner. Texas coach Mack Brown entered the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame this past year.

Young led Texas to thrilling wins in the 2005 and 2006 Rose Bowls. In those 38-37 and 41-38 wins over Michigan and USC, respectively, Young totaled 839 yards of offense and eight touchdowns. His career-defining play was also an eight-touchdown run against USC that secured the 2005 national championship for Texas.

In a news release from Texas, it was stated the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame “was established in 1989 to honor members of the Rose Bowl Game family who have contributed to the history and excitement of the Rose Bowl Game and those who embody the best of the passion, strength, tradition and honor associated with The Granddaddy of Them All.”
