■ Angels: C.J. Cron went 6-for-6 with two homers and five RBIs, Carlos Perez had five hits and drove in six and the Angels walloped the Red Sox 21-2. Albert Pujols hit his 575th homer and had five RBIs for the Angels, who had lost 10 of their last 11. Cron and Perez each homered during an 11-run seventh inning. They’re the first teammates with at least five hits and five RBIs in the same game since 1936, ESPN reported.

■ Twins: Max Kepler homered twice and set a franchise rookie record by driving in seven runs, helping the Twins rout the Rangers 17-5. Eduardo Nunez had four hits. Rangers RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez recorded just two outs in his second start of the season.

■ Marlins: Jose Fernandez endured one of the worst starts of his career in a 9-1 loss to the Braves. Fernandez allowed a career-high nine runs (six earned) on eight hits in 52⁄3 innings. The six earned runs matched his career high and equaled the six he allowed in five starts in June.

■ Reds: Tucker Barnhart singled home the tiebreaking run in the 10th inning of a 9-4 win over the Nationals to end a five-game skid. The five-run 10th featured two errors and a wild pitch. Danny Espinosa homered for the Nats.

■ Dodgers: The depleted rotation will get a lift Sunday, when veteran RHP Brandon McCarthy makes his 2016 debut against the Rockies. McCarthy will return from Tommy John surgery after tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in April 2015.

■ Yankees: Nick Swisher announced on social media he would sit out the rest of the season to spend time with his family. Hitting .255 at Triple A, Swisher was bypassed several times when the Yankees had a need at the big-league level. Swisher, 35, stressed he was not retiring but would “evaluate my options for next season at the appropriate time.”

■ Blue Jays: IF Ryan Goins, one of two position players to pitch Friday, went on the DL with a sore right forearm. Goins pitched a scoreless 18th in the 19-inning loss to the Indians.
