DeMatha defensive end Chase Young, who had been coveted by Maryland, committed to Ohio State on Friday night during the Buckeyes’ annual Friday Night Lights football camp in Columbus. Young is rated as the No. 1 player in Maryland, No. 3 weak-side defensive end nationally and No. 28 player overall in the Class of 2017 in the 247sports.com composite rankings. Ohio State has the nation’s No. 1 class by a wide margin, according to 247sports.com. Maryland was among the top 15 schools Young announced he was considerin­g in April.
