TRIPLE-A NORFOLK

The Orioles’ top hitting prospects with the Tides are enjoying big months. First baseman Trey Mancini entered Saturday’s game batting .325/.381/.455 with six extra-base hits in 19 July games, while left fielder Christian Walker is batting .338/.395/.537 with three home runs in that span.

DOUBLE-A BOWIE

Jimmy Yacabonis earned his first Double-A save Thursday and had strung together six straight scoreless relief appearances spanning eight innings. Bobby Bundy, another right-handed reliever, allowed two earned runs and struck out 16 over 152⁄3 innings in his 10 appearances before Saturday.

HIGH-A FREDERICK

The Keys have gotten a recent boost from outfielder Cam Kneeland. The 26-year-old had 10 multihit games in his 14 games before Friday, raising his average from .229 to .268 in that span. His 22 RBIs in his first 19 July games led the Carolina League, and he went into the weekend second on the Keys with 47 RBIs this season.

LOW-A DELMARVA

Outfielder Cedric Mullins is enjoying one of his better stretches of the season for the Shorebirds, batting .333 over his last 10 games entering Saturday to pull his average up to .251. The 2015 13th-round draft pick had a strong May but cooled after that. His speed has been a consistent asset, however; he had 23 stolen bases in 29 tries.

SHORT-A ABERDEEN

Left-hander Keegan Akin, the Orioles’ second-round pick in this June’s draft, went into the weekend having allowed a run on five hits with five strikeouts over his first two pro starts. First-round pick Cody Sedlock struck out seven and allowed two runs over nine innings in his first three starts. — Jon Meoli
