For those who want a piece of Baltimore history, an English country-style, two-story stone cottage in Guilford is on the market for $759,900.

Built in 1930, the home with five bedrooms, three full baths and two halfbaths has curb appeal and then some. It exudes a charm clearly intended by its designers at the architecture firm of Palmer & Lamdin. The home has been maintained meticulously.

The vestibule opens to an arched front door with side windows.

Original hardwood floors are throughout the first and second levels.

Original moldings and ceiling medallions with chandeliers give the home elegance.

A kitchen remodel kept the integrity of the house but added modern conveniences such as the GE Monogram appliances hidden behind custom-made cabinetry that matches the rest of the cabinets.

Cooks will appreciate the butler’s pantry with a refrigerator and wine cooler. A built-in banquette is an added bonus, ideal for guests that like to congregate in the kitchen.

French doors lead from the living room (with a fireplace) to an enclosed sunporch with built-in bookcases.

Care was taken to match the custommade Roman shades adorning the windows to the paint on the walls.

“You can tell this is a Palmer & Lamdin home,” said listing agent Brigitte Williams with Berkshire Hathaway Homesale Realty.

Not so common in Guilford is the 18-foot ceiling found in the master bedroom. Original beams that have been painted

“What I love about this house is it’s not a cookiecutter. It’s large but feels warm.”

Brigitte Williams, listing agent white and large windows give the room a light and airy feel.

Other amenities include a finished basement complete with a pool table and wet bar, a two-car attached garage that leads into the butler’s pantry, and an unfinished attic.

The home is also available for rent for $6,000 a month.

“What I love about this house is it’s not a cookie-cutter,” said Williams. “It’s large but feels warm.”
