Sail Baltimore’s Portside Party

-

Kacey Bidnick, 28, describes her style as “preppy, with a side of a little something outside my comfort zone.”

For the senior account executive at Planit advertising agency, that “something” had to do with a certain antipathy to color.

Bidnick acknowledged that she had relied on black as her go-to hue for years. But recently she’s been trying to bring more shades into her style, as evidenced by the outfit she sported at Sail Baltimore’s Portside Party. “It’s a challenge,” she said, with a laugh. The impetus for change came after an ultimatum from her mom. “She told me if I bought one more black thing, she might burn everything,” Bidnick said. The Mount Washington resident, who is red-headed, said her own coloring presented challenges.

“It took me a long time to learn which colors work with my hair color and skin color and eye color, and which colors are a total failure. Now, I go with emerald tones, blue and navy blue,” she said.

HER ENSEMBLE: Banana Republic multicolor paisley print chiffon top, navy eyelet mini skirt and mint stone earrings. Initial necklace from South Moon Under. Rose gold watch from Michael Kors store.

PASSIONATE ABOUT HER PROFESSION: “As corny as it is, I really like my job. Advertising is so amazing because I get to learn about so many different industries that you probably never would have thought twice about.”
