Collmenter, acquired Wednesday from the Cubs and making his first majorleagu­e start since July 7, 2015, struck out eight in five innings and allowed two runs, four hits and three walks. ■ Red Sox: SS Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs, OF Mookie Betts had a tying single before scoring the go-ahead run and the Red Sox beat the Yankees for the third straight time, 6-5. Bogaerts and 1B Hanley Ramirez each had three hits for the American League East leaders, who overcame a pair of three-run deficits. ■ Pirates: RHP Jameson Taillon pitched five innings and singled for his first career RBI, and OF Andrew McCutchen drove in three runs to lead the Pirates over the Reds 10-4 in the first game of a doublehead­er. The Pirates skipped Taillon’s previous turn in the rotation in an effort to limit the rookie’s innings. ■ Indians: RHP Carlos Carrasco left the Indians’ 1-0 win over the Tigers in the first inning after being hit on the right hand by a line drive off the bat of Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler.
