Morant powers Bobcats to 23-0 victory

Sea Gulls suffer 1st loss of year, 34-30 to Rowan

Jamaal Morant (Milford Mill) opened and closed the scoring to power host Frostburg State to a 23-0 victory over William Paterson in football Saturday.

Morant had a 4-yard touchdown run with 13:32 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead and a 2-yard touchdown run with 2:22 left in the first half for the final score. He finished with 26 carries for 111 yards.

The win was the third straight for the Bobcats (4-1, 3-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference) and their first shutout of the season. The Pioneers fell to 2-3 and 1-3.

Frostburg State’s lone loss was to Wesley, 43-7, on Sept. 10.

ROWAN 34, SALISBURY 30: The Sea Gulls suffered their first loss of the season, giving up an eight-play, 71-yard, game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.

Dante Pinckney (17-for-22 for 300 yards) completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Zac Frantz with 12:24 left in the game in a come-frombehind victory for the host Owls.

Both teams are 4-1 and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Alex Potocko (River Hill) made a 23-yard field goal with 6:15 left in the third quarter to put Salisbury up 30-27.

MORGAN STATE AT SAVANNAH STATE, PPD: The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced that the game between the Bears (2-2, 2-0) at the host Tigers (1-3, 1-1), originally scheduled for Saturday, has been reschedule­d to Nov. 26. The game was postponed because of the weather threat posed by Hurricane Matthew and the state of emergency issued by Georgia.

Morgan State next faces host Hampton (2-3, 2-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
